New aircraft for Special Operations Command Air Force
J MC-130 Combat Shadow II
The first plane MC-130 Combat Shadow II J made on 22 April its first flight in the Lockheed-Martin facility for five months and will continue to flight test before delivery to the Special Operations Command Air Force, Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico which replaces the MC-130P, which entered service in 1986. Compared to this model, which has a crew of 8 persons, the MC-C130J carries a crew of 5.
The MC-130J is based on the KC-130J tanker and keep a better wing, more powerful electric generators, a system for improved cargo handling, a station for the operator of the combat system and sensors electro-optical and infrared. Among its equipment includes air refueling systems (Universal Aerial Refueling Receptacle Slipway Installation, UARRSI) and may install infrared countermeasures system for large aircraft and armor.
The MC-130J
held clandestine flight missions, low-altitude refueling of helicopters and the V-22 Osprey, as well as infiltration, exfiltration and supply.
The Air Force is authorized to acquire up to 20 MC-130J, although approved to purchase a total of 37 aircraft, a program of 1,600 million dollars until 2016. The first operational unit of the MC-130 J deploy in FY 2012.
