Contracts
Santa Barbara Sistemas
Between 2006 and 2007, the English Defense Ministry and Santa Barbara Sistemas (General Dynamics) signed, respectively, two contracts to supply 200 Spike-ER missiles and 44 launchers, to equip the Tiger helicopters, and 2,600 Spike-LR anti-tank portable fourth generation, along with 260 firing points and integrated logistics support. The Spike, designed by the Israeli company Rafael, is a missile system with optical-electronic technology and a range of about 8,000 meters. Part of the range of missiles based on the concept of "fire and forget", which allows to change the trajectory of the projectile and even change the target to be reached after it launched. It has two major releases air to air (LR) and air-earth (RE).
